The Moosehead Lake Region is located in central western Maine. It is situated in western Piscataquis County and northern Somerset County. Local hiking trails allow visitors access to scenic views from mountain tops, lake shores and waterfalls. The Kennebec River offers whitewater enthusiasts the longest continuous stretch of rapids in Maine.
